Hanoi Night Run - a place to compete for position among clubs
Team competition is a "specialty", only available at MetaSports Marathon Hanoi Midnight. In 2022, the first time held, this content attracted 36 groups to participate, right at the end of the year, it became the focus of many clubs. There are teams that spend the whole year preparing, practicing, strategizing. Their purpose is to show bravery, strength and colors.
In the VM Hanoi 2022 tournament, Binh Duong Running Club - T-Coaching and Ultrain (HCMC) won the top two positions. Regional representative - Trung Ha Tinh Runners ranked third. The remaining two positions in the top 5 belong to famous clubs in Hanoi, VKL Runners and Hoa Binh Park Runner, respectively.
If you only look at the registered list of 20 official athletes and 3 substitutes, you can also see the strength of the champion Binh Duong Running Club - T-Coaching. On race day, all competed in good form. Truong Van Tam reached the top 5 final FM, Nguyen Hoang Hung finished second 21km. Along with that is a series of athletes who achieved sub3 full marathons and sub1:30 half marathons.
The Ultrain runner-up also had an impressive performance and only lost closely. To Tan Tai and Doan Ngoc Hoang were in the top 10 finalists. Le Thi Lai, Hoang Van Than also had good results in the distance of 21km. This is understandable because before the Ultrain tournament, there was a massive recruitment of new members with only one goal - to win.
In the latter group, Ha Tinh Runner impressed when there were four groups competing for the team prize. As a result, the two groups reached the top 10. Many other clubs also had two to three representatives. Most apply the strategy of a group of all seed runners, for the purpose of ranking competition. The remaining group competed with the spirit of friction, spreading the image of the club.
In addition to the colors of the flag, the team spirit, the high prize is also a factor that makes the team category fiercely competitive. The winning team last season received a total prize of 79 million VND, the runner-up was 64 million VND, the third team was 49 million VND.
MetaSports Marathon Hanoi Midnight 2023 continues to open registration for team content. BTC allows clubs to register 5 substitute athletes instead of 3 as before. This change is based on the plan to improve the quality of the group racing category and the comments from the clubs. With 5 reserve people, it will be easier to prepare personnel.
Except for the change in reserve members, other rules are the same as last season. Each team needs 20 official athletes and 5 substitutes. In which, 10 people registered for the 21km distance with at least 4 women and 10 people for the 42km distance, with at least 2 women. Each person can only participate in one team, one distance and must register for Bib in the period from January 31 to February 28.
The names in the top 10 last season have planned to prepare their forces and practice. Representative of Ha Tinh Runners - Nguyen Thi Tra Giang said that this year it is expected that the number and quality of team racing members will improve. In particular, the competition group will bring together excellent individuals. "Other clubs are selecting very carefully, so Ha Tinh also tries to have at least one strong squad," Tra Giang said.
According to her, this year there are more groups and they all calculate and change tactics, so the competition is very high. It is difficult to predict which club will win. Ha Tinh Runners also set high goals for members to actively practice and compete.
A representative of Hanoi, VKL Runners also increased to four teams, twice as much as last season. The team made personnel adjustments, aiming to have two teams compete for rankings. Most of VKL's individuals are prominent names. They own Thai Thi Hong, the top 1 female athlete, the Hanoi 2022 night running movement system. The rest have even and stable achievements.
Currently, the running movement is developing, and there are more and more clubs and running groups operating in a regular manner. Each province and city has at least one group. Particularly in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, there are dozens of groups, operating throughout districts, residential areas.
The ranking on the Hanoi night running tournament partly reflects their strength and position in the Vietnamese running movement. The registration portal for the MetaSports Marathon Hanoi Midnight 2023 team category will be open until February 28. Clubs need to register members right at this stage.
