Hai Phong lost heavily to Thanh Hoa in Lach Tray

Hai Phong's mistake in the 9th minute of Hai Phong opened a 3-0 victory for Thanh Hoa in phase II of the 2023 V-League championship race, after a series of five draws and losses.

Thanh Hoa's victory is like paying a debt for the loss at home in the 13th round of phase one against Hai Phong. The loss is part of a series of five unbeaten matches of the Thanh team in the V-League 2023, in turn drawing 1-1 Binh Duong, losing 1-4 to Hanoi Police, drawing 0-0 Nam Dinh, losing 0-1 Hai Phong and the latest 0-2 against Nam Dinh.

On the Lach Tray field tonight, July 22, Hai Phong should have had a good start in the 7th minute. From Yuri Almeida's cross, Luong Hoang Nam had the opportunity to face goalkeeper Thanh Diep, but handled cumbersomely so that Thanh Hoa defender could retreat to the rescue.

Two minutes after the missed phase, Hai Phong's defense made a mistake. The pair of central defenders Pham Manh Hung - Dang Van Toi and goalkeeper Dinh Trieu coordinated to risk the game right in front of the goal, letting Le Van Thang hit the ball to open the score. The early goal continued to open favorably for Thanh Hoa with a defensive counter-attack, relying on the speed of Bruno Cunha and Le Van Thang.

When the pair of strikers did not speak, midfielder Gustavao Santos made a super product. The Brazilian player controlled the ball with his chest and volleyed close to the penalty area, causing Dinh Trieu to fly at full speed, but still could not prevent the second goal. In the 65th minute, Bruno Cunha passed Pham Manh Hung before delicately hitting the ball over Dinh Trieu's head to seal a 3-0 victory.

Hai Phong still has good opportunities in this match but Yuri Almeida lacks sharpness. The situation stood out in the 36th minute when the 28-year-old striker surpassed both center-back Gustavo and goalkeeper Thanh Diep, but finished lightly so that Gustavo could retreat to break the ball in front of the goal line.

The match also witnessed a moment of unnecessary controversy of Thanh Hoa's coaching staff while leading 2-0. Referee Le Vu Linh had to draw a total of four yellow cards, of which two yellow cards constitute a red card that disqualifies an assistant from the away team.

These three points help Thanh Hoa return to the championship race with 26 points to equal Hanoi - the team drew 2-2 Ha Tinh this round, while maintaining a gap of two points behind the top team CAHN - the team that just won 1-0 Binh Dinh. Meanwhile, Hai Phong ranked eighth with 19 points, equal to Binh Dinh but less than the goal difference.
