Striker Erling Haaland returned to Man City club, unable to play with Norway in two Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Spain and Georgia.

"Erling Haaland has groin pain after the match against Burnley," Norway's national team doctor Ola Sand shared on Goal on March 21. "Initially, we hoped he could recover on Saturday. But after Haaland did the tests yesterday, he will definitely miss the games against Spain and Georgia. It would be better if He continues to be under medical observation at the club."

The groin injury came to Haaland at the right time when the Norwegian striker was in high form. He scored eight goals in the last two matches against Leipzig and Burnley, bringing the total for Man City to 42 in all competitions.

"Haaland is very sad that he can't fight with his teammates," said Norway coach Stale Solbakken. "Fortunately, this team still has a lot of talent, confidence and cohesion to win points in the upcoming matches."

Norway will begin their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign against Spain on Saturday, March 25, before playing Georgia three days later. The Nordic team has not reached the final of a major tournament since Euro 2000. In 23 appearances for the team, Haaland scored 21 goals.

Returning to Man City, Haaland had about 10 days of rest before welcoming Liverpool with his teammates on April 1. In the English Premier League, Pep Guardiola's teachers and students are eight points behind the top of the table Arsenal but played less than one match. Also in April, Haaland and his teammates will face Bayern twice in the Champions League quarter-finals, before facing Arsenal directly at the end of the month.
