Gundogan: 'Xavi was the reason why I came to Barca'

Yesterday, Barca held the launch ceremony of Gundogan. The German midfielder appeared next to President Joan Laporta when signing a two-year contract, marking a new chapter in his career. Gundogan played for Man City for seven years, before his contract expired and he left on a free basis. Gundogan and Barca's contract has a clause allowing an extension of one year. The Catalan team set a contract break clause of up to 447 million USD.

"Xavi explained his philosophy to me clearly," Gundogan added. "Barca's style of play is similar to Man City's, like the school of Xavi and Guardiola. The approach of the team is very direct.
