Guardiola: 'We take care of Haaland every second'

"We take care of Haaland 24 hours a day," Guardiola said before the match against Leicester in the 31st round of the Premier League. "We have great doctors and physicists. They take care of him every second. It's hard to understand why you spend so much money on players and then leave them."

Guardiola cited the reason the players need special care is having to play at an average of three days a game. With this density, he thinks that sometimes some players can't practice for more than 15 minutes. The Spaniard also cited the example of Haaland being overwhelmed: he substituted after Haaland scored five goals against Leipzig, but then the player was injured in the win over Burnley and was unable to play against Liverpool.

"Haaland works more inside the training center than on the pitch," added Guardiola. "In modern football, players practice more behind the scenes than on the pitch."

Haaland has scored 45 goals in 39 games for Man City. The 22-year-old striker is leading the three individual races of the English Premier League, Champions League and European Golden Shoe.

Haaland also contributed greatly to the success of Man City. The Etihad Stadium team has just beaten Bayern 3-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. They are also present in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and ranked second in the Premier League.
