Fritz wants to cry when losing Nadal
Fritz lost to Nadal despite playing one of his best games since starting his career in 2015. He had the same number of winners as his predecessors, made fewer mistakes, but lost in the super tiebreaker series in the fifth set.

Fritz led 2-1 after the first three sets and Nadal showed signs of injury. However, the Spaniard showed his talents and won the tickets for the semi-finals in the next two sets, with scores of 3-6, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 and 7-6 (10-4) respectively. Fritz missed out on becoming the youngest American to reach the Wimbledon semifinals since Andy Roddick in 2005.
The 24-year-old tennis player said he asked himself as he sat in the locker room after the game. He said: "I feel like I'm going to cry. I really want to cry. I've never felt this way since the previous defeats. This defeat made me very hurt and painful."
Fritz won his maiden Masters 1000 by beating Nadal in three sets in the Indian Wells Masters final in March and climbed to a career-high 13th place in the world. He is also well prepared for Wimbledon, winning the ATP 250 Eastbourne Championship last month.
Entering the Wimbledon quarter-finals is Fritz's best result after participating in 23 Grand Slam events. However, this result is not enough to appease the owners of the three ATP championships. "It was heavy to leave Wimbledon this way," Fritz added. "I have to look at the positives of this game to regain my spirits."
The United States had eight players in the third round of Wimbledon this year, but only Fritz reached the quarter-finals. No American player has reached a Grand Slam final since Roddick in 2009.
The two semi-finals of the men's singles at Wimbledon are on July 8, with Novak Djokovic against Cameron Norrie and Nadal against Nick Kyrgios. Wimbledon has two lefties in the semi-finals for the first time since 1992, Nadal and Norrie. Nor has that happened in a Grand Slam event since Nadal and Jurgen Melzer reached the semi-finals of the French Open in 2010.
