France meets Australia in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Women's World Cup
* Score: Diani 15', Dali 20', Le Sommer 23'70'
In the first tournament, Morocco became a phenomenon when it eliminated Korea and Germany to qualify for the group stage. But in the 1/8 round, France became an overwhelming opponent with the African representative, when coach Herve Renard's teachers and students only took 23 minutes to create a safe advantage.
In the 15th minute, France arranged a beautiful left wing attack, the ball was crossed in for Kadidiatou Diani to open the scoring in an unaccompanied position. In the 20th minute, Kenza Dali hit the first shot in the match to hit the post to double the gap.
Three minutes later, Nesryne El Chad made a mistake when the ball hit Diani's foot and bounced into the box, Eugenie Le Sommer was present at the right time to score a third goal. Minutes later, France played leisurely and could lead 5-0 if the strikers took the opportunity.
In the second half, Morocco tried to rise up but could not create a clear scoring opportunity. France played moderately but still got the fourth goal in the 70th minute. From the right, Grace Geyoro hung the ball to the column to eliminate the entire Morocco defense, Le Sommer hit the near-field cushion to complete the double.
Winning 4-0, France entered the quarter-finals against the home team Australia - the team that had previously defeated Denmark. The blue shirt team has the largest margin of victory in the knockout round, and also has 12 goals so far - the most in a women's World Cup.
