Former player Quang Hung: 'Hope to repay football debt'
On March 1, the Vietnam Football Federation VFF lifted the permanent suspension of Le Quang Hung - a former Vietnamese player. Despite still being tested for six months according to VFF's disciplinary regulations, Quang Hung was allowed to return to participate in football activities managed by VFF.
"This is what I've been waiting for a long time," Quang Hung shared with MetaSports. "Since being banned from playing, I have realized my mistake, well served my legal and professional punishment. Now, when my sentence is cleared, I hope to return to top football soon. high to repay the favors that have carried me for the past eight years."
Quang Hung, born in 1992, belongs to the generation of Nguyen Van Quyet, Nguyen Trong Hoang, Nguyen Anh Duc or Vu Minh Tuan... As a talented defender, he often participates in youth teams and then the national team. Vietnam.
In 2014, a player from Nam Dinh got into trouble when he was involved in match-fixing in the match between Ninh Binh club and Kelantan at the AFC Cup. He was sentenced to 27 months in suspended prison and 24 months probation. Later that year, VFF decided to ban Quang Hung from playing permanently as well as eight other players. The football door seemed to close since then with the defender in 1992.
After being banned from playing, Quang Hung returned to his hometown of Nam Dinh to earn a living with all kinds of jobs. He used to do incense and then play youth football. Later, Quang Hung went to the South to settle down. In addition to being supported to open a coffee shop, he goes to work daily to earn money to support his small family with his wife and two children.
"I know the mistakes I've made are unforgivable. But I'm aware that life has to go forward, I maintain my fitness, watching football is fun but it's also a place where there's money in and out of the fields. From then on, I also hope to return to satisfy my passion someday", Quang Hung confided.
There was a time when Quang Hung wanted to give up football because of public pressure and difficulties in life. But his father adamantly refused. He once cried and said that his biggest wish in the rest of his life was to see Quang Hung back on the pitch in official matches. That image haunted him all day long.
After being cleared of the sentence, Quang Hung is actively applying for some professional teams. He believes he still has the strength to play top football for many years.
However, his father will not be able to witness that day in time, as he passed away a few years ago. "Before closing my eyes, my father was still not satisfied because he expected me to return to football. It is also a motivation for me to always strive, to look back on the mistakes of youth to move on. Hope This door closes, I will have the door open to welcome me so I have a chance to redeem myself with the fans," Quang Hung said.
