Former Champions League winner leads Barcelona B
Marquez's contract lasts for two years. The 43-year-old former Mexican midfielder is tasked with leading Barcelona B team to Serie B in Spain and preparing young players for the first team. Another former Barcelona defender, Sergi Baljuan, has left his role as B-team coach after just one season on the job.

Leading Barcelona's B team is Marquez's second job as a coach after spending a season in Alcala in Spain's Fifth League.
Marquez is a monument to Barcelona. From 2003 to 2010, he contributed to four La Liga leagues, two Champions League leagues, one King's Cup, three Spanish Super Cups, one European Super Cup and one FIFA World Club Cup.
After leaving Barcelona, Marquez played for New York Red Bull, Leon, Verona of Greece and Atlas. In 2018, he retired at the age of 39.
For Mexico, Marquez is a legend, playing 147 times and scoring 17 goals.
Marquez is the third C1/Champions League winner to manage Barca B, after Pep Guardiola in 2007-08 and Eusebio Sacristan from 2011 to 2015. Guardiola and Sacristan won the C1 Cup in 1992, the first European championship of the first team.
Spain's current coach Luis Enrique also managed Barca B from 2008 to 2011. When in charge of the first team from 2014 to 2017, he won two La Ligas, a Champions League, three King's Cups, a Spanish Super Cup, a European Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.
