The FIFA Disciplinary Committee is preparing to issue a 15-year ban from football activities to the President of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales for kissing a female player at the 2023 World Cup.

According to a source of Sports Mail (UK), FIFA wants to severely punish the head of the RFEF, and the 15-year ban is the highest in the penalty frame they can give.

This move comes from the fact that Rubiales hugged and kissed female player Jenni Hermoso at the awards ceremony after the 2023 World Cup final in Australia. The RFEF President was accused of "forcibly kissing" Hermoso without permission, creating such an offensive image that many politicians had to voice their objections.

The RFEF initially defended Rubiales, arguing that he did so because of the consent of Hermoso. However, yesterday they changed their stance. The RFEF's member leaders asked Rubiales to leave his position immediately, due to behavior that was "unacceptable and damaged the image of Spanish football".

This "turn of the car" is to appease FIFA, because previously it was reported that the most powerful organization in the world of football was considering banning Spanish clubs and teams.

Earlier, FIFA suspended Rubiales for 90 days to investigate. According to the Spanish press, Rubiales once instructed the RFEF to write a letter to the UEFA European Football Federation to complain about the government's interference in the federation's internal affairs.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Deputy Prime Ministers Teresa Ribera, Yolanda Diaz, Justice Minister Irene Montero and President of the Spanish Olympic Committee Victor Francos all condemned Rubiales' actions and called for his resignation. On August 25, the Spanish government announced that it was conducting proceedings to bring Rubiales to court.

Rubiales was on stage at the FIFA awards ceremony after the 2023 Women's World Cup final on August 20 with other officials, including FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Queen Letizia of Spain and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. After presenting the medal, Rubiales hugged her, put her hands on her head and kissed Hermoso on the lips. The RFEF President then patted the back as the 11th player left.
