DP World Tour golfer's 'lost brake' round
The penultimate stage on September 9 marked Tarrio's disastrous performance, shown by a score of +8 after 15 holes - two birdies, three bogeys, two double bogeys, one triple bogey. In that part, he scored double bogey on the par4 9th hole after being about two inches away from the target but only three putts closed the hole.
On the par5 16th hole, he shot near the middle of the fairway, 237 yards from the flag. If you want to get to the green from there, your second shot, after passing a long distance to the left of the fairway, must also pass a water hazard. However, Tarrio accepted the risk in exchange for an eagle opportunity.
But the first attempt to get the ball into the lake was due to lack of power. After dropping the new ball, he was 125 yards from the flag. From this place, he continued to enter the water. Repeating that process a third time, Tarrio just barely got the ball over the water hazard, five yards from the hole, then added two more shots to finish the job. Adding four penalty strokes, the Spanish golfer scored a septuple bogey at hole 16.
After this disaster, he went to hole 17 and continued to "collapse", at double bogey. The par result of hole 18 helped Tarrio end his steady slide, with a round score of +17, and a tournament score of +15. With this achievement, he ranked last in the table after being eliminated. Before that, Tarrio parked right at filter point -2.
Tarrio is 32 years old this year, has been playing professionally for 15 years, and won't be able to enter the European first division DP World Tour system until 2022. In this arena, he has passed 67 tournaments and has not yet won a cup with a combined prize money of 848,135 USD.
The top of the table after round 3 of the Irish Open 2023 at -13 belongs to Hurly Long, a German. Long is only one stroke away from the next position – Jordan Smith, two strokes away from A-list star on the PGA Tour Rory McIlroy.
