Dortmund leads the Bundesliga
Before the match on the evening of February 25, Dortmund had the same 43 points with the leading team Bayern and the third ranked team Union Berlin. If they win or draw the host Hoffenheim, they will take the lead.
In the first half, Dortmund almost opened the scoring for. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens dropped a shot into the near corner, forcing goalkeeper Oliver Baumann to make a save. However, in an effort to get out of the third place from the bottom, Hoffenheim also caused a lot of turbulence towards the Dortmund goal. In the middle of the first half, Christoph Baumgartner and Ozan Kabak constantly threatened the visitors' defense.
Dortmund scored the only goal in the 43rd minute. After Marco Reus' free kick, the ball hit Julian Brandt's back and went into the net. The goal counts for Brandt. This is the fourth goal in four consecutive matches for the 26-year-old winger.
Dormund does not play too well, but still shows the bravery of the team that has won the German championship eight times. Late in the second half, Andrej Kramaric and Fisnik Asllani missed two equalizers for Hoffenheim.
Dortmund had an disallowed goal after 56 minutes. The referee thought that before Marius Wolf put the ball in the net of Hoffenheim, Nico Schlotterbeck had fouled Ihlas Bebou.
Dortmund leads the Bundesliga with 46 points after 22 matches. Bayern and Union Berlin are behind with three points less, but played one game less. On the evening of February 26, Bayern can reclaim the top position if it wins directly against Union Berlin. The defending champions have a +40 difference, more than double Dortmund's +18.
