Nico Schulz is facing criminal lawsuits of domestic violence with allegations of kicking the abdomen of pregnant girlfriends just two weeks before birth.

According to the Duc Bild newspaper, Schulz was accused of assaulting the ex -girlfriend who was pregnant by 2020 to "abortion". The source confirmed that Dortmund's defender faced 10 years in prison if he was convicted, according to the German law.

Schulz "used his girlfriend's foot to his girlfriend" two weeks before she gave birth. German media also published messages between Schulz and her ex -girlfriend, in which she texted "he beat me when I was wearing nothing in my apartment".

The girl's lawyer said Schulz kicked the client's stomach to "try to end the pregnancy in a particularly serious case". After receiving the lawsuit, the Dortmund Prosecutor Office opened an investigation. The police also examined Schulz's house to collect evidence.

In the afternoon of August 7, Dortmund confirmed that the "serious and shocking allegations" were related to Schulz through the media. The Bundesliga runner -up also talked to Schulz, but did not apply discipline because the situation was unclear. Dortmund also affirmed that he would "act at any time" when he learned more information.

The German media posted images of Schulz's early leave of Dortmund's training session on the afternoon of August 7. In the official announcement of the incident, the 29 -year -old defender denied the allegations, and told the host club that "will protect himself from the allegations with the help of a lawyer, and will keep clean".

Schulz was absent in the match of Dortmund winning Leverkusen 1-0 in the first round of the Bundesliga on August 6. Earlier, coach Edin Terzic claimed that the German defender was not in his plan 2022-2023, for professional reasons.

Schulz, born in 1993, joined the Hertha BSC youth team in 2000 and was promoted to the first team ten years later. He played for Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim, respectively, before joining Dortmund on a five-year contract in the summer of 2019. He was a sub-duo of Raphael Guerreiro, with only one goal through 40 caps, with Dortmund winning a German Super Cup and a German Cup.

Schulz used to wear U15, U16, U17, U18, U19, U21 teams and 12 German teams in the period of 2018-2020, scoring two goals.
