Djokovic won the US Open for the fourth time
Victory after three hours and 17 minutes helped Djokovic repay the debt against Medvedev in the US Open final two years ago. This time, the final also took place in only three sets. Nole dominated his juniors in the first set as well as the third set, and was more brave in the second set tie-break. The fourth championship at the US Open helped Djokovic increase his Grand Slam record to 24, two more than Rafael Nadal.
Djokovic only lost a service game once in the entire match, when he led 3-1 in the third set. Double errors and unforced errors made the Serbian player seem to lose his advantage when he was close to victory. But he won immediately in the next return game, with the highlight being a backhand down the line that scored a winner. Medvedev tried to return in the deciding game of his seniors, but could not. Djokovic won 6-3 in the third set, to win his third Grand Slam in 2023.
