Djokovic meets Fritz in ATP Finals semi-finals
Due to the most certainty of the Red group one round early, Djokovic met the second player of the Blue group in the semi-finals. The second ticket in the Green group belonged to Fritz, when the American player won in a 2 hour 47 minute match against Auger-Aliassime.
The two good serveers did not lose a game in the first two sets. In two tie-break series, the player who lost the mini-break first won in reverse. Fritz won the series in the first set 7-4, while Auger-Aliassime won 7-5 in the second set tie-break.
It was not until the sixth game in the third set that the match saw a player who won the game return the game. Fritz took advantage of the fourth break-point in the game to get ahead. Auger-Aliassime couldn't get up, lost another game and lost 2-6 in the deciding set.
Fritz entered the tournament as a substitute, when world number one Carlos Alcaraz withdrew due to injury. But in his first appearance at the ATP Finals, he went to the semi-finals. "It was amazing," said Fritz after reaching the semi-finals. "I feel that I'm playing the best tennis, against the best players."
Fritz won 88% of the points from first ball and didn't lose a game of handover the whole game. Those will be the parameters that will give him confidence in the semi-finals, against the strongest opponent of the tournament, Novak Djokovic. Nole will meet Daniil Medvedev in the red table procedure match at 8pm tonight, November 18 (Hanoi time). Seven hours later, Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas battled for the final ticket to the semi-finals. The winner will meet Casper Ruud in the fourth round of the strongest players.
