Taking place from August 19 to August 26 in Lao Cai, the 2023 VTV Cup volleyball tournament will have the participation of 7 teams. Host Vietnam has 2 representatives competing with the guests Team Australia, Team Mongolia, Choco Mucho Club (Philippines), Kansai University (Japan) and Suwon Club (Korea).

Teams will compete in a round robin. The first and second placed teams in the round-robin round will advance to the final to compete for the championship. The two teams ranked 3rd and 4th compete for 3rd place; The two teams ranked 5th and 6th compete for 5th place. In total, the 2023 VTV Cup will have 24 matches.

VTV Cup 2023 will be the last tournament of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team before entering the competition at ASIAD 19 taking place from September 23 in Hangzhou, China. At ASIAD 19, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team were in Group C, along with Korea and Nepal.

In the quarter-finals of the FIVB Challenger Cup 2023, the women's volleyball team lost 0-3 to France and drew 2-2 with Kenya before returning to Vietnam. The two matches on French soil also help the team's coach have a closer assessment and plans to prepare for a series of tournaments that will take place in the near future, namely SEA V.League and VTV Cup before attending ASIAD 19. .

According to coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, there will be changes in the first team. "This year we have to see that the density of the women's team is very thick. After the tournament in France, in August we will compete in four consecutive tournaments. If we keep the number of athletes competing from The beginning of the year will lead to overcrowding, because every 3-4 days they play a tournament will not have enough time to recover," said the captain of the national women's team.

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet added, changing personnel in the first team is necessary and definitely must be done, in fact, the team's coach has considered this option when convening the second squad.
