Cong Phuong scored for the Vietnamese team for the first time in 21 months, when he opened the scoring from a slot pass as placed by Nguyen Hoang Duc. 17 minutes later, another player playing abroad, Nguyen Van Toan, shined with a breakthrough and set up Tuan Hai for a 2-0 victory. This is Vietnam's third consecutive victory under coach Philippe Troussier, including two defeats of FIFA Top 100 generals.

This year, Cong Phuong has only played one match at the club level, when he came on the field in the extra minutes of the second half at the J-League Cup for Yokohama FC. Many people are concerned that the 28-year-old striker can no longer maintain his best form to be recruited.
