Coach Shin Tae-yong is angry with Indonesian players
"I'm angry that the players didn't give an interesting match to the fans," the South Korean leader said at the post-match press conference. "We should have scored more goals."
On the field of Bung Karno, Indonesia finished 19 shots, including 8 goals, but only scored two goals thanks to Egy Maulana Vikri and Witan Sulaeman. Coach Shin believes that the students have squandered too many opportunities, and asks them to focus more in the next match against Brunei on Monday, December 26.
But according to the Korean leader, the player's not playing well is partly because they have been out of the game for a long time. Most Indonesian players play in the national championship - Liga 1, but this tournament was stopped from October 2 to December 4 due to a stampede at Kanjuruhan Stadium that killed 125 people. When the tournament returned, the players gathered again with the national team but still had not played any official matches.
"We will play better gradually," coach Shin affirmed. "Anyway, I still thank the players for the win."
President of the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) Endri Erawan also reminded the whole team not to be complacent after the first victory. He wanted the team to fix some problems to prepare for the match against Brunei, and at the same time, affirmed that the players only need to focus on playing and PSSI will meet all the needs of the whole team.
After the second match, Group A has four teams with three points with Thailand leading due to the best goal difference (+5). Following are the Philippines, Indonesia and Cambodia respectively. Brunei ranked last because there are no points.
