Coach Park Hang-seo wins the Victory Cup

Coach Park Hang-seo overcame two colleagues, Kim Kil Tae - the coach who helped Vietnamese women's taekwondo win five gold medals at the 31st SEA Games and Yu Zhigou - the coach who helped Vietnam win the SEA Games men's singles gold medal after 19 years. In the past year, the Korean leader and the U22 team successfully defended the SEA Games gold medal and together with the Vietnamese national team became the first Southeast Asian team to win in the third qualifying round of the World Cup, when beat China 3-1.

"Thank you all for giving me this precious award," Coach Park shared when receiving the award. "We are living the last days of 2022 and these are also my last days in my five-year term as head coach of the Vietnam men's football team. I still have work to do, that's it. This is my last job, the two AFF Cup finals are coming. Vietnamese people have good results".

Coach Park signed a contract with VFF at the end of 2017. He helped Vietnamese football achieve many successes, such as the runner-up position of the U23 Asian Cup 2018, the 2018 AFF Cup champion, the 2019 and 2021 SEA Games gold medal... Mr. decided not to renew his contract and will end his role as head coach of Vietnam after the AFF Cup 2022.

Vietnam is in high form in the last tournament with Coach Park. The team reached the final with a record of 14 goals and never conceded a goal. Vietnam will play the final first leg against Thailand at home at My Dinh on January 13 and play the second leg three days later at Thammasat.

The male athlete of the year award was given to Nguyen Huy Hoang. The swimmer born in 2000 won five gold medals at the 31st SEA Games, won three gold medals and broke three records at the National Sports Festival. Huy Hoang was also honored in the category of the most favorite athlete and together with Hoang Quy Phuoc, Tran Hung Nguyen and Nguyen Huu Kim Son won the Team of the Year award. These four swimmers broke the SEA Games record in the 4x200m event by beating Singapore, which has dominated the past 20 years.

This is the sixth year the Victory Cup is held to honor outstanding individuals and groups of Vietnamese sports.
