Coach Hoang Anh Tuan: 'I've seen the weakness of U20 Australia'
* U20 Vietnam - U20 Australia: 5:00 p.m. on March 1, Hanoi time, on MetaSports.
"During my work, I worked with U17, U19 and followed U23 Australia. We respect U20 Australia. They have strengths, but also have weaknesses," Mr. Tuan said at the pre-match press conference in Hanoi. Fargana this afternoon 28/2.
U20 Vietnam will get acquainted with the Istiqlol stadium this afternoon. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan said the team will only "warm up", not practice much about tactics or physical strength to avoid injury before the match.
"We have three weeks of preparation, the best players have gathered. The team completes the preparation with two friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Dubai City," added Vietnam U20 coach. "It's hot in Vietnam, but coming here, it's cold. Fergana's climate is suitable for matches, it's cold but the air is fresh and pleasant. The team's health situation has partly shown that. No If anyone is injured, everyone is ready to face U20 Australia."
Australia was the second runner-up of the 2010 AFC U-20 Championship, and the semi-finals in 2008 and 2012. This year, the army under coach Trevor Morgan set a minimum goal of reaching the semi-finals to have a ticket to the 2023 FIFA World Cup U20 in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Vietnam's best achievement is reaching the semi-finals in 2016. To prepare for this year's tournament, the team has been focusing since the end of January. Hoang Anh Tuan's teachers and students then went to training in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, played two friendly matches, won 2-1 Saudi Arabia and lost 0-1 to Dubai City.
The AFC U-20 Championship will take place in Uzbekistan from March 1 to March 18. After the match against Australia, Vietnam will face Qatar on March 4 and Iran on March 7. The four semi-finalists will win tickets to the U20 FIFA World Cup 2023 at the start of May in Indonesia. As the host, Indonesia has a direct entry into the U20 FIFA World Cup, so if this team enters the top 4 at the Asian U20, the losing teams in the quarterfinals will play against each other to compete for replacement tickets.
Before leading Vietnam U20 to attend this Asian tournament, coach Hoang Anh Tuan once brought U19 Vietnam through the group stage of U19 Asia 2016 despite encountering many strong opponents such as North Korea, Iraq and the UAE. After that, Mr. Tuan's teachers and students continued to cause a stir when they defeated the host Bahrain to enter the semi-finals and also won tickets to the U20 FIFA World Cup in 2017.
