Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem is the best V-League 2022
Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) held the V-League Awards today 1/12. Mr. Chu Dinh Nghiem was honored as the best coach of the season, after helping Hai Phong build a short coordinated play, attack beautifully and finish in second place.
"I am not surprised with this award, unlike the first time I received it in 2016. But I am proud, because it recognizes what I have done with Hai Phong Club," Mr. Nghiem told MetaSports after receiving the award.
However, the leader of Hai Phong was not satisfied with the runner-up position, because for him, not winning the championship was a failure.
Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem was born in 1972, used to play for Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Hanoi ACB and Hoa Phat Hanoi. He retired and moved to coaching since 2006 at Hanoi T&T Club, (later renamed Hanoi FC) as an assistant. Ten years later, he was promoted to head coach and immediately won the V-League. In 5 years leading the capital team, he owned three V-League championships, three National Super Cups, two National Cups, becoming the most successful coach in the history of Vietnamese football.
Nghiem bid farewell to Hanoi in 2021 when the team did not have good results. He then landed in Hai Phong before the V-League 2022. With a limited force and had to borrow players, coach Chu Dinh Nghiem still helped Hai Phong to sublimate, race to the penultimate round, and finish the tournament with runner-up, with 48 points after 24 matches, three points behind the top of Hanoi's table.
Nghiem determined that Hai Phong's goal in the 2023 color is still to play with fire to serve the fans and achieve good results. "We just lost five players due to the expiration of the loan contract. Foreign duo Rimario and Moses also went to another team. Therefore, the team will have to replenish its force. The team will regroup from December 10, and We are looking for new faces to replace," the coach added.
In the category of Best Player V-League 2022, Nguyen Van Quyet has no opponent. He scored six goals in the V-League and three in the National Cup, inspiring Hanoi to win both competitions.
Nguyen Van Quyet also entered the typical team of the tournament. The remaining 10 positions belong to goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh (Viettel), two central defenders Nguyen Thanh Binh (Viettel), Nguyen Thanh Chung (Hanoi FC), two full-backs Dam Tien Dung (Thanh Hoa), Ho Tan Tai. (Binh Dinh), midfielders Nguyen Hai Huy (Hai Phong), Do Hung Dung (Hanoi), Nguyen Hoang Duc (Viettel), striker Pham Tuan Hai (Hanoi) and Rimario (Hai Phong).
Rimario received the top scorer award with 17 goals, 7 more goals than the second ranked player Pham Tuan Hai.
