BRG Open Golf Championship 2023 has an impressive start
In the opening leg, Heraty hit 67 strokes, including seven birdies and two bogeys on the par72 course designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, belonging to BRG Danang Golf Resort.
However, this achievement gives Joe a one-stroke advantage over T2. This position has up to five players, including Deyen Lawson, Kade McBride (Australia), Saksit Jairak, Nopparat Panichphol (Thailand) and Naoki Sekito (Japan), along with Kevin Phelan (Ireland). McBride and Jairak both scored eagle 18.
The tournament had 23 Vietnamese players, but only Nguyen Nhat Long scored negative (-1) at the end of round 1. Nhat Long scored 4 birdies and 3 bogeys, thereby standing at T19 (-1). The T26 position (even par) has Doan Van Dinh and Nguyen Anh Minh who are currently the number one amateur in Vietnam. Opening day statistics recorded six eagles, only Phelan and Samarth Dwivedi not bogey. However, Dwivedi was at T10 (-2), two strokes behind Phelan when the whole game scored two birdies.
BRG Open Golf Championship has been part of the official competition system on ADT since its launch and accompanies the Da Nang Golf Tourism Festival opening in 2022.
This year's tournament gathers 144 players, competing for a prize fund of 100,000 USD in the individual stroke play format over three rounds. The qualifying cutoff point will be determined after two rounds according to the principle of taking top or T50. On September 2, the champion will appear and receive a reward of 17,500 USD and a cup crafted from Chu Dau ceramics (Hai Duong) with a history of formation and development of 600 years.
The owner ADT identifies the BRG Open Golf Championship as a long-term project in Da Nang.
ADT has been operating since 2010, as a stepping stone to the first-class arena of the Asian Tour, similar to the Korn Ferry Tour of the US PGA Tour or the Challenge Tour of the European DP World Tour. Since 2013, ADT tournaments are scored on the World Professional Ranking Table (OWGR). The history of this arena so far has recorded only Tran Le Duy Nhat as the Vietnamese national champion, at the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament 2015.
