Photo Billionaires Jassim Al Thani and Jim Ratcliffe both did not submit an offer to buy Man Utd a second time by the deadline of March 22.

The Glazers set a deadline to accept a second bid for Man Utd at 9pm on Wednesday, March 22, London time. Because candidates like Thani or Ratcliffe did not send their bids at the right time, Man Utd decided to extend the deadline to receive offers.

Both billionaires are still hungry to buy the team, according to Sky Sports. In addition, Man Utd also received eight offers from other investors.

Thani and Ratcliffe are considered two bright candidates to own Man Utd instead of the Glazer family. The Qatari billionaire's first offer of $5.5 billion was rejected, but then he still visited Man Utd headquarters and was ready to make a new offer.

Thani has a total fortune of $1.2 billion according to Forbes, but he represents the Qatar Public Investment Fund (QIA), which has assets of up to $450 billion. Thani is expected to raise the purchase price to $ 6.1 billion, according to the wishes of US billionaires. In addition, the son of the former King of Qatar is also willing to pay off all the debt of Man Utd, dating from when the Glazer family mortgaged to buy the team in a leveraged fashion.

British billionaire Ratcliffe again said that he would not pay unreasonable prices for Man Utd, and did not mention paying the team's debt. The richest man in England has long been a fan of the "Red Devils", but was also denied the first offer. Ratcliffe currently has assets of about 23 billion USD, is the chairman of chemical group INEOS - the company has revenue in 2022 of nearly 23 billion USD.

Man Utd is likely to be sold for the highest price of all time with sports clubs. The record currently belongs to the American football club Denver Broncos, with a price of $ 4.6 billion.

The Glazers bought Man Utd for $985 million in 2005, and put the team on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) seven years later. Under Glazer, the "Red Devils" have won 20 titles, including a Champions League and five Premier Leagues.
