Bild newspaper: 'Real wants to recruit Mbappe this summer'
The move was approved by Real's leadership in a meeting last week. Accordingly, Real will send an offer to PSG at the latest on August 29 to put pressure on the French club before the transfer window closes at the end of September 1.
Bild pointed to many reasons why Real had to act early. First, they want to buy Mbappe this summer, avoiding the French striker's extension with PSG - which could include a higher release clause. The second is a matter of expertise, when Real still needs a top-class striker to replace Karim Benzema - the captain has switched to Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. Real just borrowed Joselu from relegation team Espanyol last season as a short-term alternative.
In addition, Real are building a young team and Mbappe could be the next factor. In the opening match of La Liga against Bilbao 2-0, coach Carlo Ancelotti pushed two veteran midfielders Toni Kroos and Luka Modric to the bench, and used the midfield quartet of Aurelien Tchouameni, Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga. .
According to The Times, after active negotiations with President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Mbappe reached an agreement to renew with PSG with a release clause. There is no word on whether this is a short-term or long-term contract with a release level. But Spanish newspaper AS predicts PSG wants at least $ 200 million - the same fee they paid to buy Mbappe from Monaco in the summer of 2018.
Mbappe and his teammates will play the next match against Lens at Parc des Princes in the third round of Ligue 1 on August 26.
