Germany Playing with a lack of people, coach Julian Nagelsmann's army lost 2-3 on the field of Moenchengladbach in the 21st round of the Bundesliga.

Bayern lost people right from the eighth minute. Due to rising too high, midfielder Dayot Upamecano was forced to commit a foul to prevent Alassane Plea from entering the penalty area. The referee immediately issued a red card directly to the French player.

Since then, Bayern has been under great pressure from Moenchengladbach. The home team even only needed five more minutes to press the pitch to open the scoring. Jonas Hofmann fooled the entire Bayern defense with a free-kick from the edge to the center. Lars Stindl's right footed shot from outside the box goes into the corner without being marked.

After a few minutes, coach Nagelsmann accepted to supplement the defense for Bayern. He replaced striker Thomas Muller with full-back Joao Cancelo. Although unable to regain the advantage, Bayern still found an equalizer thanks to the individual effort of Alphonso Davies. In the 35th minute, after the acceleration and crossing phase of the Canadian full-back, Choupo-Moting put the sole of his right foot into the table.

After the break, Moenchengladbach took advantage of the better man. The home team won 54% possession of the ball, launching a total of 13 shots, four more than Bayern. In the 55th minute, Bayern's defense collapsed in a three-on-three situation of Moenchengladbach. Plea sank to let Hofmann leisurely kick his left foot to raise the score to 2-1.

Bayern let Sane, Musiala and De Ligt, three players recuperate after the 1-0 victory over PSG in the Champions League on February 14, on the field. However, they still could not make up for the lack of players. In the 84th minute, Hofmann once again shone with a cross to clear the deck. The rest of Marcus Thuram's job is to cushion the left foot from seven meters to make it 3-1.

Bayern's last efforts were only enough to shorten the score to 2-3. 17-year-old striker Mathys Tel kicked the ball into the net of Moenchengladbach in the 90+3 minute, after Davies's thick pass in the penalty area.

Losing to Borussia Monchengladbach could cost Bayern the top spot in the Bundesliga. They are owning 43 points after 21 matches, one point more than Union Berlin and playing more than one game. If you win against Schalke in the match on the evening of February 19, Union Berlin will take the lead. Bayern also face the risk of being leveled by Dortmund in terms of points. The third-placed team has 40 points and still has a match against Hertha. Moenchengladbach is ranked eighth with 29 points after 21 matches.
