Barca sold Dembele to PSG
On August 3, PSG scheduled a medical examination for Dembele, so that the French player could return to play in Ligue 1. He accepted a five-year contract agreement with PSG and will sign it on Saturday 5/. 8. Earlier, PSG had agreed to release Dembele's contract for a fee of $ 55 million.
On August 2, coach Xavi admitted Dembele wanted to join PSG and Barca could not stop him even though he wanted the player to stay. Dembele also spoke with PSG coach Luis Enrique and President Nasser Al Khelaifi. He is expected to replace the position of right-wing striker left by Lionel Messi at Parc des Princes.
Dembele was born in Normandy, France, and grew up with the Rennes club. He played only one season in Ligue 1 for Rennes, before joining Dortmund in the summer of 2016. Also just a year later, he was signed by Barca for a transfer fee of $ 153 million, according to Transfermarkt. However, he has not lived up to expectations at Camp Nou, having scored only 40 goals in 185 games over the past six seasons, and often missed playing due to injury.
Last season at Barca, Raphinha occupied the main position on the right wing with 50 games, scoring 10 goals. Dembele wants to play more and he will have the opportunity to double at PSG after Messi's contract expires in Paris. The 26-year-old France international may have to compete with other PSG rookies such as Marco Asensio or Lee Kang-in.
PSG still want to recruit a central striker and they are targeting Goncalo Ramos from Benfica. President Al Khelaifi wants to complete this deal before the weekend, so that the rookies are best prepared for the new season. Ramos will likely take Kylian Mbappe's place, if the 25-year-old superstar leaves or is disciplined next season. PSG is still determined to sell Mbappe this summer, not to lose him next year.
