The day 4/7, barca announces the final admiration of Franck Kessie's defense of Andreas Christensen in a free transfer.

Both have signed a four-year contract with the Nou Camp boss with a release clause of $520 million.

After joining Barcelona, Christensen ended 10 years at Chelsea, where he won the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Club World Cup and European Super Cup.

Christensen is the second centre-back to leave Chelsea on a free basis this summer after his contract expires, following Antonio Rudiger, who joined Real Madrid. At the Nou Camp, the 26-year-old Danish will earn $6.2 million a season and compete with Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia and Ronald Araujo for a starting spot at the Nou Camp. Clement Langlais, on the other hand, has a one-year loan deal with Tottenham Hotspur, while Samuel Umtiti is long out of Xavi's plans.

Hours earlier, Barca announced their first contract with Casey in the summer of 2022. The 25-year-old midfielder moved to Barcelona after helping Milan win the Serie A title for the first time in 11 years in 2021-2022. Casey is the second Ivorian player to play for Barcelona after Yaya Toure.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are interested in signing Casey in the January transfer window and have held numerous talks with the midfielder's agent. However, Casey refused and chose to join Catalonia with a season salary of 6.8 million US dollars.

Barca struck deals with Christensen and Casey at the end of last season but need to free up the wage fund and balance fair financial ratios before announcing contracts. Therefore, they bid farewell to full-back Danny Alves and striker Luke De Jong. On June 30th, Barcelona announced that it had agreed to sell 10% of the TV broadcasting rights in La Liga to Sixth Street Partners, a global investment company, to help raise $277 million.
