Ho Chi Minh City The Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation is looking for a way to bring Le Tu Chinh to the 32nd SEA Games, because this running leg belongs to the list of athletes expected to be cut due to lack of funds.

According to the initial expected list, Vietnamese sports will attend the 32nd SEA Games with 1,018 members, including 744 athletes. However, the delegation is having to review and cut about 30 athletes on the list to go to Cambodia due to financial difficulties. This number includes Le Tu Chinh - an athlete who was once known as the "speed queen" when she won the 100m, 200m and 4x100m gold medals at the 2017 SEA Games. At the 2017 SEA Games, she successfully defended the 100m gold medal.

"We do not have an opinion that the General Department of Sports and Sport's submission to Tu Chinh may be reduced at the 32nd SEA Games. They have their own set of targets, we must accept," said Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Federation Nguyen Trung. Hinh told MetaSports this morning. "But we are making a report to the City People's Committee to ask for funding for Tu Chinh to attend the 32nd SEA Games."

According to the calculation of the Vietnam Sports Delegation, each athlete attending the SEA Games costs about 30 million VND.

Tu Chinh injured his knee and had to have surgery in May 2022, so he did not attend the 31st SEA Games at home. After a long time of treatment, the running leg of Ho Chi Minh City reappeared in the Speed Cup on April 1. She completed the 100m qualifying with a time of 11 seconds 81, then did not make it to the final.

Tu Chinh is currently not in good form, it is difficult to dispute the 100m gold medal at SEA Games 32. Before the injury, her best 100m achievement in the international arena was 11 seconds 54 when she finished first at SEA. Games 30.

The number one candidate for the gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games is Veronica Shanti Pereira. The Singaporean athlete is currently the best female 100m runner in Asia when she finished first with a time of 11 seconds 46 at the tournament in New Zealand.

The 32nd SEA Games will take place from May 5 to 17 in Cambodia at five venues including Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, and Kep. With 37 subjects and nearly 600 competitions, this year's Games has the largest scale in the history of the SEA Games. The Vietnamese sports delegation attended with the goal of winning 90-120 gold medals and standing in the top 3.
