Arsenal took a two-goal lead after just 10 minutes thanks to strikers Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard. However, they fell back and let West Ham pull back a goal from the penalty spot in the first half. In the second half, Jarrod Bowen equalized 2-2 for the home team just a minute after Bukayo Saka missed the penalty kick on the away team.

Just like when Man City met Leicester a day ago, Arsenal entered the game quickly and opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Bukayo Saka split the right armpit for defender Ben White to dive down to the sideline and stretch across the second column for striker Gabriel Jesus to cushion the empty net. Defender Vladimir Coufal was busy raising his hand to demand an offside penalty but forgot to include Jesus in this situation.

Just three minutes later, the visitors scored another goal from an equally beautiful combination. Striker Gabriel Martinelli hung the ball as if placed in the second column for captain Martin Odegaard to put one touch through the feet of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski into the net.

The "Gunners" started off like a dream, but since then they've started playing downhill. In the 31st minute, midfielder Thomas Partey lost the ball right in front of the penalty area, allowing Declan Rice to steal it and pass it to Lucas Paqueta in the penalty area. Paqueta pushed the ball a beat and then fell down when being rushed by midfielder Gabriel Magalhaes, and referee David Coote decided to blow the penalty for the homeowner. Partey reacts and thinks that the ball has touched Rice's hand, but the slow phase has not clearly shown this.

West Ham played unimpressive but they could not miss this opportunity. Midfielder Said Benrahma took the penalty to the right, in the opposite direction of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, to shorten the score. Just a minute later, Partey again lost the ball dangerously but this time he fouled right away and was shown a yellow card.

Arsenal had a good chance to regain the two-goal lead when they were awarded a penalty in the 50th minute for Michail Antonio's handball in the West Ham penalty area. However, Saka kicked the penalty wide out of the post.

Just three minutes later, the home side equalized from a set ball. Defender Thilo Kehrer headed into the penalty area for Bowen to dive down and shoot a touch near the corner to knock Ramsdale out even though the England goalkeeper had his hand on the ball. This is Bowen's fifth goal in the Premier League this season, when he started all 30 games for West Ham.
