American runner died shortly after reaching PR marathon
The 26-year-old Runner participated in the Mesa Marathon, Arizona, on February 4 with the goal of setting a personal record. He finished with a time of 3 hours 10 minutes 5 seconds, achieving a personal record. However, just a few steps later, Lipton collapsed. The medical team nearby immediately tried to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for Lipton but failed and transferred the male runner to the hospital. Here, the doctors announced Lipton had passed away.
Dr. Jordan Lipton, Lipton's father, told the Boston Globe that "the diagnosis suggested that Lipton may have had an electrolyte imbalance, leading to an arrhythmia."
Lipton passed away "doing what he loved", Eleanor Pereboom, Lipton's girlfriend, shared on Instagram. "He's accomplished more than anyone I know in just 26 years, but there's still much to be done. I ask you to keep Lipton in your hearts and share your memories with him."
Pereboom describes 4/2 a beautiful day for jogging, with the highest temperature of 23 degrees Celsius. Before setting off, Lipton kissed his girlfriend goodbye. Pereboom finished less than 15 minutes after Lipton but couldn't find him. She texted and called and received no response. Pereboom opened a location tracking app on his phone and found his lover at a nearby hospital.
Lipton, who lives in Providence, Rhode Island, is known for being a successful businessman. After founding news aggregator 1440 Media, he was honored in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the US in 2022.
Male runner loves to travel the world and has explored many places, such as England, Sweden, China, Thailand. In addition to English, Lipton also speaks Spanish and Arabic. He is studying Italian in preparation for a trip to the country in May.
