Alcaraz vs Zverev in US Open quarterfinals

Alcaraz is the second person in the Open Era to reach the quarterfinals of the US Open three times before the age of 21, after Andre Agassi. In the fourth round, the Spanish tennis player overcame the phenomenon of Matteo Arnaldi after two hours of play, with a score of 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. Through 16 matches in the US Open, Alcaraz won 15 and lost only one.

"When I won Wimbledon, I said I loved grass. But now I say hard courts are my favorite," Alcaraz said after the match against Arnaldi on September 4. In this match, the world's number one player only lost the service game once, but won the ball defense game five times.

Jannik Sinner failed to make it to the quarterfinals to reenact a five-set match against Alcaraz last year. In the fourth round, the Italian player lost to Alexander Zverev, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 in a match that lasted 4 hours and 41 minutes.

Sinner was injured and lost the third set quickly, but came back to win the pivotal ball-blocking game in set four to pull the match into the deciding set. Right at the beginning of the fifth set, Zverev took the lead by winning the ball game, leading 3-0. Since then, the 12th seed did not make any mistakes to win 6-3.

The remaining two quarterfinal tickets were determined on September 4 to belong to Russian players, Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev. Medvedev beat Alex De Minaur 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 and Rublev beat Jack Draper 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The first quarterfinals will take place from 0:30 on September 6, Hanoi time. Taylor Fritz faces Novak Djokovic, before Ben Shelton faces Frances Tiafoe at 7:30 the same day.
