USA Carlos Alcaraz broke his 10-match winning streak when he hung up the racket 7-6(4), 4-6, 2-6 at the hands of Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals of the Miami Open on March 31.

Alcaraz missed the opportunity to become the youngest person to win the Masters 1000 double in Indian Wells and Miami. He will lose the world number one position to Novak Djokovic when the scoreboard is updated next week.

Sinner successfully avenged his loss to Alcaraz in the Indian Wells Masters semi-final two weeks ago. The Italian player won the first break-point in all three sets, thereby creating an early lead. In the first set, Sinner led 4-1 but was equalized by Alcaraz and pulled into a tie-break. In the brainstorming series, Sinner led 4-2 but still lost 4-7.

Failure in the first set did not cause Sinner to lose his rhythm. He played well thanks to a steady serve, a steady finish on two strings and often guessed Alcaraz's small missed situations. When he lost 3-4 in the second set, Sinner won 19 of the following 21 points to beat the opponent 6-4. He also made no mistakes in serve games in the final set, winning 6-2 in 50 minutes.

Before winning the match, Sinner ended Alcaraz's 21-set winning streak, extending from the BNP Paribas Open. The 21-year-old tennis player equalized the confrontation score 3-3 with juniors two years younger.

"We played tennis at a high level," Sinner said after the game. "In the last set, I saw Alcaraz having trouble in a few games and trying to put more pressure on him. I did my best and I'm happy with the result."

Sinner will face Daniil Medvedev in the final. The Russian tennis player also spent a lot of strength when he defeated compatriot Karen Khachanov 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-3.

Medvedev into the fifth consecutive final. He won in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai, but lost to Alcaraz in Indian Wells. That was Medvedev's only defeat in the last 24 matches. He also beat Sinner in all five previous meetings.
