Saudi Arabia The Saudi club recruited attacking midfielder Otavio from FC Porto for $ 65 million.

Otavio signed with Al Nassr until June 2026. The 28-year-old Portuguese midfielder is the fifth rookie from Europe to join Al Nassr this summer, after Marcelo Brozovic, Sadio Mane, Seko Fofana and Alex Telles. The home team of Al-Awwal Park will soon welcome the sixth rookie, after reaching an agreement to buy midfielder Aymeric Laporte with Man City.

Otavio was born in Brazil, but plays for Portugal from 2021. Up to now, in the international arena, the 28-year-old midfielder has 14 matches and three goals. In 2022, he and Portugal reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup.

With Porto, Otavio won three Portuguese championships, three National Cups, one League Cup and two National Super Cups. In May, he won the Portuguese Player of the Year award for the 2022-2023 season.

Otavio is the third Portuguese player to join the Saudi Arabian Championship in 2023. Before that, Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Al Nassr in January and Ruben Neves joined Al Hilal in July.

Otavio is expected to form a good midfield trio with Marcelo Brozovic, the star of the Champions League final with Inter last season, and Seko Fofana, the player with Lens who finished second in Ligue 1. With this midfield, Al Nassr Expect Ronaldo to have more balls to score. Last season, with the old midfield, CR7 scored 14 goals in 19 games.

At the beginning of the 2023-2024 season, Al Nassr won the Arab Club Champions Cup. At this tournament, Ronaldo scored six goals in six matches, including two goals in the final against Al Hilal 2-1. However, in the opening two matches of the Saudi Pro League, Al Nassr lost to Al Ettifaq 1-2 and Al Taawoun 0-2 respectively. On August 25, Ronaldo and his teammates will be guests on the field of Al Fateh.
