The 2022 Southeast Asian Championship (AFF Cup 2022) will officially kick off on December 20 with the participation of 10 regional teams including: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Brunei.

According to the regulations of the AFF Cup 2022, in the group stage, each team will play 2 home matches and 2 away matches. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will meet in the final for the championship. The two losing teams in the semi-finals were tied for third place.

The semi-finals and finals will take place in the first leg and second leg format at home - the opponent's field. The away goals rule will not be applied to determine the winner if there is a draw after the first and second legs.

Previously, this regulation was also applied at the AFF Cup 2020 when the tournament took place in Singapore. This not only creates fairness, but also helps the semi-finals and finals to be more exciting and attractive.
