8-year-old girl finished third in Happy Run
"I was very happy when I reached the finish line and received the reward. On the way, I felt tired, but when I saw everyone running past, I tried to run again. When I saw the finish line, I rushed forward," Ngoc Diep said. share. Sweating from fatigue, but the 8-year-old girl smiled brightly and did not forget to wait for her friends to finish after her to celebrate.
Ngoc Diep is one of 250 students from Hope School (HOPE) participating in the Happy Run. The children are all orphans during Covid-19, being raised and trained at the school.
Two weeks ago, Diep participated in a short race. Although there was no prize, the event gave me more motivation to practice every day. She said she hopes to have the opportunity to participate in many other running races in the future and dreams of becoming a professional runner.
Next to Ngoc Diep, another student of Hope School standing at the podium to receive the award is Pham Thi Thanh Xuan (11 years old). I finished in fourth place right after Ngoc Diep. Spring usually spends less time jogging. So when I found out I won, I was surprised.
"Outside of school, I often participate in painting activities, not as often as Diep, but after this tournament, I will definitely participate in many other competitions if I have the opportunity," Xuan said.
Nearly a month ago, when teachers announced that they would register students to participate in the Happy Run, the atmosphere at Hy Vong school was more exciting. In addition to the early morning exercise hours, the children also took advantage of running and physical training. On race day, teachers and students realized the goal of middle school and high school students having a prize at a distance of 3.5 km and a first grade student having a distance of 1.35 km.
"Running a short distance like this race is not difficult for HOPE students. Because they practice every morning. Especially high school students have maintained the habit of running 5 km a day," said Mr. Hoang. Quoc Quyen, Project Director of Hope Boarding School said.
According to him, in addition to the goal of health training, this race also aims to spread love and raise funds to support disadvantaged children. "The children participated in running today to contribute their steps to support other lives and share love," said Quyen.
Happy Run is a community run organized by FPT Corporation to raise funds for charity. The prize contributes billions of dong to the Hope Fund (HOPE) through ticket sales and support from FPT. All of this money is used to carry out community projects, bring school light to upland children, and help children in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances.
At the end of the event, the organizers awarded 5 prizes to the first male and female runners. There is also a reward for the group holding hands to the finish line, impressive finishing, and unique costumes. Total prize value of 100 million VND.
