3,000 young athletes compete at Kun Marathon

Thua Thien - Hue The number of children participating in the Kun Marathon kid race, belonging to the MetaSports Marathon, is the largest ever, creating an exciting atmosphere on the morning of April 15 at Ngo Mon Square.

On the morning of April 15, the Citadel area, Hue city was vibrant when 3,000 children from 6 to 10 years old were present to conquer the Kun Marathon. This is the third time Kun Marathon has come to Hue. The event received great interest with registrations increasing by 1,000 compared to last year.

The event took place at 7 a.m. but from 5:30 a.m., hundreds of parents brought their children to the gathering area on April 23. The weather in Hue was cool, not sunny and windy, favorable for competition.

Each group of young athletes appeared in red, pink, yellow, blue, green shirts corresponding to 5 age groups, viewed from above, creating outstanding colors. Most of the children are eager to experience sports with thousands of friends their age. Many children have participated in Kun Marathon events more than 3 times.

As usual, many famous artists came to participate in the program, exchange and run with children such as Artist Truong Giang, MC Minh Xu.

First time coming to Hue and to Kun Marathon, Nguyen Quy Phu (grade 2/6, Dinh Bo Linh school, Da Nang) eagerly got up at 5am to prepare. "I'm not nervous at all. I want to run Kun to meet Uncle Truong Giang. My dream is to grow up to be famous," Quy said. And Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Uyen (3rd grade, Thuan Hoa primary school) said that the class had 40 friends running and "feels very happy" when she asked for permission to register for the same class and was immediately approved by her mother.

3,000 children are divided into several runs according to age group, each time is 15 minutes apart. The road is nearly 1km long, located on Doan Thi Diem and 23/4 streets, lined with green trees. The track has been divided into lanes, separated by a security fence. Each child has his or her own Bib code, which is the same as the code given to parents or teachers. After the event, each child is hand-delivered to the guardian in a separate stream.

In addition to running, the track is designed with many obstacle games to create a sense of excitement and increase the experience such as passing the ball pool, tunneling ... After a few hundred straight meters, the appearance of obstacles The obstacle was a test of dexterity, endurance, speed, causing many children to lose their shoes, their hats, etc. There were children who were afraid of falling back, so they hugged their shoes and still ran to the finish line in cheers.

More than 3,000 children together with thousands of parents and teachers created a bustling scene at Ngo Mon Square. Inside the running track, the children rush to overcome obstacles and cross the finish line.

Outside, the parents stood and cheered. Many parents ran after their children, repeatedly shouting "Do your best". Others teach their children how to keep their breathing rhythm so that they don't get overwhelmed. Many children tripped or ran slowly were encouraged by volunteers, artists, and held hands. Truong Giang artists, athlete Do Kim Phuc constantly hold hands, put on shoes or help children who are lagging behind.

After reaching the finish line, the children received medals to demonstrate their efforts when conquering the first running track in their lives.

Welcoming son Tran Hieu Phuc Duy (6 years old) after the tournament, Mr. Tran Hieu Quang said he was proud of his son completing the race "without tears". According to Mr. Quang, the child at home is quite shy, like in the race "like a superhero", overcoming all 4 challenges by himself. "I will definitely let her join the next time," he said. The baby was given a superhero toy by his father as a reward after the award.

After two hours, all the running groups had completed the race. Kun Marathon closed with many children's joys as well as the impressive emotions of adults when witnessing the sports spirit from the children. The award does not focus on achievements, it is an event to help children grow up, be active and confident in life.
